sxsw 2019

Never before seen in North America, the Back To Amy exhibit features a younger Amy Winehouse just before her meteoric rise in support of her celebrated first album, Frank. The exhibit will take place during SXSW 2019 —as part of the official SXSW program—and will feature never-before-seen images from photographer Charles Moriarty—as well as special performances and media experiences each day of the SXSW Music Fest, March 12-16, 2019 in Austin, Texas.

The Back To Amy exhibit is inspired by the new Amazon Bestselling photography book of the same name—and we’re excited to announce that a striking photograph from the exhibit was selected to join the permanent collection of the British National Portrait Gallery in London. Follow us here and on social media for all exhibit updates—including special performances, the new documentary, the live tribute album, and exclusive limited edition merch.

Here is just a small selection of the 25 large-scale images that will be on display at the BACK TO AMY exhibit opening at SXSW 2019 in March. These candid, relaxed, unfiltered images capture an icon on the rise. Meet Amy before she was Amy Winehouse.

Back To Amy is hosted from Austin’s ultra-cool bar and eatery Holy Roller (509 Rio Grande St) which is one of the city’s coolest downtown bars and best restaurants. It’s so good that it was featured this month on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri who dove into their next-level take on a meatloaf sandwich.

Holy Roller chef Callie Speer said “Holy Roller is delighted to host the Back To Amy exhibit at this year’s SXSW. Amy Winehouse was a unique and strong woman that left us to soon and our all-woman team couldn’t be more excited than to put our own rock n’ roll spirit behind this celebration.” And Holy Roller diners do not need a SXSW badge to enjoy the Back To Amy experience.
